January 9 ~ Dupont Circle ANC to Consider DDOT’s Proposed New Bike Lanes in Dupont West

Jan. 9 (7pm): The Dupont Circle ANC will hold its regular monthly meeting in room 500 of the Johns Hopkins Univ. School of Advanced International Studies (1717 Mass. Ave., NW; note that a photo ID is required for entry). Among the announced agenda items will be a discussion of the Protected Bike Lanes Project’s plan for 20th, 21st, and 22nd Streets, NW linking Dupont West with the Mall.

As stated on the project’s website, <https://www.dccycletrack.com/20th21st22ndstnw> its purpose “is to identify a specific route for north- and south-running protected bicycle lanes between Dupont Circle, the western side of Downtown, and the National Mall that provides a safe environment for people biking of all ages and abilities on either 20, 21, or 22 Street NW. For the purposes of project planning, corridors defining the project area include [the noted] north-south streets . . . between Florida Avenue NW and Constitution Avenue NW. . . .”

Other DDOT traffic safety proposals to be considered include banning of right turns on red at selected intersections within the ANC 2B area and safety improvements for the 19th and T Streets intersection.
