Dupont Circle Historic Preservation Public Meeting Announced

Billed as a “dynamic discussion about preservation in the Dupont Circle community,” this program, open to the public, will be held on Saturday morning, November 6th, between 10 a.m. and 12 noon at Foundry United Methodist Church (16th & P Streets, NW).

This will be the first of what Catherine Buell, chair of the DC Historic Preservation Review Board (HPRB), says will be a series of neighborhood-based public roundtable programs to be held throughout the city in the coming months. Joining with HPRB and the Historic Preservation Office (HPO) as co-sponsors of this first program will be the Dupont Circle Conservancy, the Dupont Circle Advisory Neighborhood Commission, DC Humanities Council, and Greater Greater Washington.

Panelists will include representatives from the sponsoring offices and groups. The purpose of this roundtable (and the other roundtable programs to follow) will be for the HPRB, HPO, and the neighborhood organizations to discuss preservation issues important to Dupont Circle residents and hear from the residents and businesses about the impact of historic preservation within the neighborhood, and to explore ways in which preservation can best support neighborhood planning goals.

For more information, contact the Office of Planning’s Deputy State Historic Preservation Officer, Steve Callcott, at (202) 741-5247 or by email at steve.callcott@dc.gov.
