North Columbia Heights Green Celebration Held in Late 2010

Sat., Nov. 20 (3-7pm): The community will be celebrating the opening of the North Columbia Heights Green, the neighborhood’s newest green space and best kept secret hidden behind Red Rocks Pizza within the alleys off of the east side of the 3300 block of 11th Street, NW. Years in the making, the Green is a dramatic transformation from an abandoned vehicle dumping ground into a beautiful oasis. (For a report on the opening of this major neighborhood amenity, see, “North Columbia Heights Green Nearing Completion; Opening Set for Sep. 11th,” InTowner, Sep., 2010, page 1; available in Current & Back Issues Archive.) All are invited to join with the event’s sponsors, Washington Parks & People and Meridian Hill Pictures, in enjoying local food, an outdoor short film mini-festival, fun for the kids, and music celebrating “the natural and cultural harvests of our community.” For more information, send email to info@washingtonparks.net or call (202) 462-7275.
