Free Noontime Organ Music at National City Christian Church

Fri., Apr. 8, 15, 22 & 29 (12:15-1pm): The weekly Music At Midday free, 45-minute lunch hour concerts at National City Christian Church on Thomas Circle, NW, continues its organ recital series on the 8th with the church’s Director of Music and Organist Dr. Charles Miller performing Peter Niedmann’s Variations on “Amazing Grace” and works by the great early 20th century composer and organist Louis Vierne. On the 15th, Jonathan Biggers, Professor of Organ at Binghamton University Binghamton, New York, will present Craig Phillips’ Prelude on “Sine Nomine” and “It is Well With My Soul,” Bach’s Toccata in F Major, and Noel Rawsthorne’s “Hornpipe Humoresque.” The programs on the 22nd and 29th, yet to be announced, will be presented by Dr. Miller.

These performances all take place inside the soaring John Russell Pope-designed sanctuary (reminiscent of a great Christopher Wren church in London) featuring National City’s magnificent 7,000-pipe, five-keyboard Möller organ.
