Columbia Heights Day Festival Plans Annouced

Sat., Aug. 27 (10am-6pm): Neighbors and others from all over who want to experience the dynamism of Columbia Heights are invited to join in the fun during the fifth annual, free Columbia Heights Day to take place on the Harriet Tubman Elementary School playing field and along 11th Street between Irving (just three blocks from the Metro station) and Lamont Streets; entrance to the festival will be at 11th and Kenyon Streets.

Additionally to the two stages featuring live music and dance performances, there will also be what the organizers tell us will be the second annual “DC State Fair.” Also, there will be a petting zoo and kids zone, featuring a morning yoga workshop; a neighborhood dog show; the King and Queen of Columbia Heights Pageant; a cupcake eating contest and “Food Truck Row” where lunch and snacks will be available for sale. And throughout the day neighborhood restaurants will be offering menu specials. For more information, visit www.ColumbiaHeightsDay.org.
