Columbia Heights Day Festival Plans Announced

Sat., Oct. 6 (10am-6pm): Neighbors and others from all over who want to experience the dynamism of Columbia Heights are invited to join in the fun during the sixth annual, free Columbia Heights Day to take place on the Harriet Tubman Elementary School playing field and along 11th Street between Irving (just three blocks from the Metro station) and Lamont Streets; entrance to the festival will be at 11th and Kenyon Streets.

In addition to the live music and dance performances, including Elikeh, The Chariots and Dyverse City, there will be a petting zoo and kids zone, featuring a morning yoga workshop; a neighborhood dog show; a cupcake eating contest and “Food Truck Row” where lunch and snacks will be available for sale. And throughout the day more than 40 neighborhood businesses and organizations will be participating. And new this year will be the Meridian Pint “Oktoberfest” block party at 11th Street and Park Road featuring a beer garden, outdoor BBQ, games, a Polka band and more.
