DC Trash & Recycling and Parking Restrictions Suspended for MLK Holiday

Mon., Jan. 20: In observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, there will be no  trash and recycling collections; all services will resume the following day. In neighborhoods with once-a-week collection service will “slide” to the next day for the remainder of the week through Saturday.  In neighborhoods with twice-weekly trash collections, Monday and Thursday service will be made Tuesday and Friday, and Tuesday and Friday service will be made Wednesday and Saturday.

With respect to expired meter and parking, including residential parking, those restrictions will not be enforced; further, booting, towing and abandoned vehicle removal will be suspended.

And, a reminder about Christmas tree and greenery disposal through Friday the 24th: these need to be stripped of all ornaments and tinsel and placed where DPW regularly collects household trash and recycling -– do not place at the curb (unless that is the regular trash pick-up spot).
