Bloomingdale Neighborhood Historic Preservation Panel Discussion Set

Tue., June 23 (6:30-8:30pm): The Bloomingdale Civic Association Historic Preservation Committee will be hosting a panel discussion at St. George’s Church (160 U St., NW) to explain what historic designation means and how a historic designation is acquired. The panel will feature representatives from the DC Office of Planning (OPM) and the DC Preservation League (DCPL) who will give presentations on the criteria required to achieve the designation status, pros and cons, and the process involved. Residents who have experienced historic preservation designation will offer their insights.

The organizers have made clear their intention to have a balanced discussion which will also include the impact of the recent R-4 zone ruling restricting pop-ups. (For context, see “Huge W Street Pop-Up Could be the Last; Zoning Commission Sets New Restrictions,” InTowner, June 2015 issue pdf at page 1.)

Light refreshments will be served.
