January 31 ~ Dupont Circle BID to Hold Open House Events

Jan. 31 (9-11am): The new Dupont Circle Business Improvement District (BID), which began operations in September focusing on public space maintenance, strategic marketing and placemaking efforts in partnership with existing neighborhood stakeholders and nonprofits, as we reported, is now ready to introduce itself to all residents and others who visit to shop and dine and otherwise enjoy the myriad activities, as well as those who come in every day to work in the offices and shops. Meet Colleen Hawkinson, the BID’s executive director, to learn more about the BID’s priorities and programs at its office, 1601 Conn. Ave., NW, suite 502. Light refreshments will be served. THIS JUST IN (Jan. 28, 4:30pm): Among the nominees for the new Commission on Nightlife and Culture just announced by the mayor’s office is Colleen Hawkinson. In its statement, it was noted that “[a]s head of the BID, Ms. Hawkinson works to elevate Washington, DC’s iconic Dupont Circle neighborhood with public space management, strategic marketing, and economic development initiatives. She has more than 20 years of experience in economic revitalization, urban planning, consensus-building, and infrastructure planning.”
